On this pod, Alexander Smith and I dive into the current state of the public venture markets in Canada, discussing mining stocks, overall liquidity, and financing activity. Additionally, I give my take on the U.S. small cap and growth markets, focusing largely on the Russell 2000.
Risk capital has fled the TSX Venture in recent weeks, and trading volume on this exchange is near the lowest it's been in my 15+ year career (roughly 61.5% drop from Q1 2021 to Q1 2022...ouch!).
In the midst of all the carnage, we tried to analyze and forecast - based on historical patterns - just how much longer the slump may go on for, triggers that could depress equities even further, and potential catalysts which could swing the direction of the current bear market.
At the end of the show, I left viewers with a piece of data that ought to leave current (and prospective) small/micro cap investors with a very good reason to stay optimistic.
